There’s nothing wrong with the plugin functionality, but I wanted to make you aware of the interaction with WP Time Capsule.

We use their plugin to selectively auto-update back-end plugins (it backs up first and then updates) that don’t affect the look/functionality of the front end of a website. This plugin is a candidate for auto-updates but for some reason it doesn’t show up on the list of plugins you can update. So far every other plugin from the repository has shown up so I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Not a big deal and maybe this isn’t on your end but I wanted to let you know in case it provides a clue for something else later on.

Interesting. Thanks for pointing this out! I took a look at WP Time Capsule, and I didn’t see anything obvious about why my plugin wouldn’t appear on their auto-update list. So I went ahead and submitted a support request (copied below). I’ll report back when I hear from them.

    Thanks again!

Question about plugins on auto-update list

I’m the author of a plugin in the wordpress.org plugin repo (https://wordpress.org/plugins/plugin-notes-plus/), and one of my users informed me that my plugin doesn’t appear on the list of plugins that can be updated automatically in WP Time Capsule. Is there something that I can do to make my plugin eligible for auto-updates? It doesn’t affect the functionality or appearance on the front end of sites, so I believe that it would be a good candidate.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just wanted to follow up. I never heard back on my support request from WP Time Capsule. (See the message I submitted a week ago in the previous comment.)

I looked at a couple of other plugins that allow selective auto-updates of plugins: Jetpack (https://jetpack.com/features/security/automatic-plugin-updates/) and Automatic Plugin Updates (https://wordpress.org/plugins/automatic-plugin-updates/). Based on my testing, both of those plugins include Plugin Notes Plus on their list of plugins available for auto-update. So I’m guessing that it’s a quirk with how WP Time Capsule works and not something I can affect from within my plugin. I’m going to mark this as resolved, but I’ll post back if I do end up hearing from WP Time Capsule support.
