Support » Plugin: WordPress Gallery Plugin - NextGEN Gallery » Not handling 404’s for tag pages

  • Hi,

I noticed NGG is causing some Google indexing issues, and tracked this back to non-existent (in this case deleted) tags. The tag pages should return a 404 in these cases, but they currently return a valid page saying “no images were found”.

    e.g. https://www.imagely.com/ngg_tag/nosuchtag/

This is open to abuse so really needs fixing 🙂

    Hi @smartyp,

Thanks for the report. We have added this problem to our list but in the meantime, you can prevent the indexation of the tag pages using a SEO plugin.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately noindexing tag pages doesn’t work. 🙂 At least, it doesn’t work in Yoast SEO – “Picture tag ngg_tag” is already set to noindex, but no robots header is output on the tag pages.

    This is still an issue.
