    Hi Adunakhor (@thefightingperfectionist),

    Thanks for reaching out. bbpnns uses wp_mail() to send out messages, so anything that happens after that (like getting flagged as spam and such) is beyond its control.

    However, here are a few things you can try in order to get to the bottom of it:

    1. Install WP Email Log plugin to see what’s actually leaving the server;
    2. Set up Mailgun or Sendgrid or some other third-party mail service that will give you logging after message acceptance by the MTA so you can see if/why the messages are failing after leaving the server;
    3. Think about how many recipients are in the mailout queue and whether the host can be killing the mailout process before everyone has been processed (use WP Email Log to see if everyone is showing up in the logs)

    Regarding this:

    For Gmail users, sometimes they get the verification email and sometimes they don’t. I tested it and got one, but it went to my spam folder. Others have claimed that they don’t get them at all, spam, junk or nothing.

    It does sound like the process is getting killed by the webhost. As for it being flagged as spam, you’ll have to check/set up your DNS SPF and DKIM records to avoid that, and it’s beyond what bbpnns can control.

    I’ll be adding a call to set_time_out() to try to get around any timeout issues in version 2.1.14 later today. I can’t guarantee that it’ll work, though, as hosts can have watchdog scripts that kill long running processes anyway.

    If that *is* indeed your case, there’s always the bulk mailer add-on which I wrote for that very reason. It sends up to 1000 messages in the time it usually takes to send 1. It does require a Mailgun or SendGrid account, though.

    Cheers,
    Vinny

    Haven’t heard back, so closing this as resolved.

    Sorry, but this is not actually resolved.

    However, I was able to bypass these issues simply by a) requiring that any users on this forum not use a generic email address (especially a Gmail account, but use their actual company work email addresses instead), and b) telling them that there may be an issue the first time they login after registration if they are using Chrome as their browser, and explaining that they could use the link in the site footer to get back to the forum home page or by bookmarking it prior to registration.

    I’m not going to spend any further time installing additional plugins or setup other mail services just to find out if maybe it can tell me why it isn’t working correctly with Google products. Knowing what is causing the issue doesn’t really provide me with a solution if I’m not the app developer.

    I, as the app developer, can’t help you without knowing what is causing the problem. Requiring that your users don’t use a Gmail account feels like terrible User Experience, but it’s ultimately your call. There’s nothing I can do without the information I requested.

    Cheers,
    Vinny
