Hi @frankg069,
I’m sorry to hear that WPConsent was not a good fit for your website’s needs. This is a new plugin, and we are still adding features, but I wanted to address some of the things you mentioned.
– The plugin allows you to add service-level information from the admin with a description and data policy URL. For the most common services used on websites, it also provides automatic configuration with default data so that it’s easy to get started.
– In the preferences panel that is easily accessible from the cookie banner, users can choose exactly which categories of cookies they want to allow and WPConsent will respect those decisions when unblocking scripts that it automatically blocks.
– WPConsent will automatically block 3rd party scripts that add cookies and prevent them from being executed before consent is given. We are also going to be adding options to extend that to more types of content and custom scripts for more control.
– The consent dialog is fully customizable and users can easily add references to any information as needed. The Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy pages are automatically linked in the Preferences panel, if configured in the admin.
– WPConsent’s main audience in this first version is to help users get started on improving compliance on their websites. There may still be some, more complex, setups that are not fully covered by our automatic configuration, but we are going to continue to expand the plugin with updates.
I’m sorry that you had to create a new account just for this review, and I hope you can reconsider it based on the above. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out either here or using the form at https://wpconsent.com/contact/
Thank you, Mircea, for your quick response!
I couldn’t find a way to add a service like etracker while allowing visitors to accept Google Analytics under “Statistics” but decline etracker, which is also categorized under “Statistics.”
Furthermore, I have a WPForms contact form that uses Google reCAPTCHA, but:
- No information about Google reCAPTCHA is displayed in the cookie consent dialog.
- Google reCAPTCHA is blocked without prior consent.
Another issue: The GDPR requires consent logging, yet this feature is only available in the PRO version of your plugin. Without this functionality, the free version does not comply with GDPR requirements.
Would love to hear your thoughts on these concerns!

Hi Frank,
Thank you for sharing your use-case. You are right that there’s no way to choose consent for individual services in the current version of the plugin. They can currently only be enabled/disabled based on the category that they are part of. We will look into what options we have to further expand support for consenting to individual services.
Regarding Google reCAPTCHA, yes, that is not detected automatically in the current version of the scanner and we are working on extending our scanner to cover more pages and services.
You can always manually add service information and cookie data in the admin in the current version of the plugin.
WPConsent in the current version may not be a good fit for all websites, and we will continue to expand its features to help more website owners.
