‘NOT FOUND’ error

    @fjamesg

    I’m new to wordpress, and I’m running into a problem with what I think is a permissions error, but I’m not sure how to fix it. I’m trying to make a page with embeded vimeo, and it previews fine, and when I go to publish it, the page link shows up, but that’s all. When I click on the link, this error comes up:

    The requested URL /animation-reel-2k8/ was not found on this server.

    I have wordpress in a wordpress folder in my web directory, and the index.php is at the root (/web). I don’t have a .htaccess file in my wordpress folder, and I’m not really sure how to create one… (windows won’t let me create a file with a name that’s just an extension.

    also, posts don’t show up after publishing…

    my host says the folder that saves the posts and pages isn’t valid and I’m going to have to re-install… must have screwed something up initially.

    I would copy over the offending folder first before removing and installing the whole thing.

    Hey thanks for the reply – but there is nothing in there of any use… I just set up some test folders…

    I’m wondering if I need to do anything to the database – does it need to be reset as well?
