My low rating has to do with the way this plugin suggests “glossy” compression for photographers. I tested about thirty images. In one example, a swimmer, I was impressed by the smaller file size. But then I looked for details: water drops, goosebumps, crisp highlights, the sparkle in the eye; all were gone. Comparing to compression in Photoshop, the results are similar to JPEG quality 23. Highlights and shadows suffer the most, but midtones erode as well. If you know how to use Photoshop, which gives you 100 quality options, you don’t need this plugin which only gives you 3.

    Hi @aaron843,

First of all, thank you for your review. We appreciate any kind of feedback so we can improve our service 🙂

Every image is different and depending on the pre-compression that has been done, the final result would be better or worse. We generally advise to not edit the images before going through ShortPixel, to avoid over-compression, but even doing that, sometimes a specific kind of image will need to use Lossless compression instead of Glossy.

Thanks again, and have a good day!
