• Hi,

I’m installing WordPress on a site in my SiteGround cPanel, but I can’t install it because of this, which appears in the SiteGround WordPress install tab:

    Space Required
    Available Space : 19,640.34 MB
    Required Space : 25.26 MB

SiteGround directs me to Software Support here at WordPress.org. I have no idea what to do. I have 5 sites with WordPress installed and I’d rather not uninstall one of them. Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

WordPress.org does not control hosting server, it provides the software for other people to use their own sites on their own hosts.

If there is not enough space, that’s a server issue, and you need to resolve it with your hosting provider.

This really does look like a problem within the automated installer (likely Installatron or Fantastico) they are using, clearly it has a problem with the size of variables used in testing for adequate space, your available space is so large that it has wrapped and may even look negative! It seems that sitepoint either can’t or wont do anything to fix this.

What you can do instead is do a manual install of WordPress, it is not at all hard and provides experience with tools that are likely to be useful later.
The essence of what you need starts at the “Detailed Instructions” heading here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
You will need an FTP program like filezilla

Thank you!! I am using an auto-installer. I’ll check out the link you provided.
