I’m sorry you were able to figure it out. If you don’t mind taking a moment to tell me more about what you couldn’t figure out that would be helpful for me.
The other plugin didn’t work but I finally was able to figure out how to set up Facebook Feed Grabber after reading their instructions about how to set up the Facebook App, and get your Facebook page ID.
What I couldn’t figure out was
A) How to set up the Facebook app
B) How to configure which Facebook page the feed comes from
The most confusing part was that you labelled the Facebook Page ID as “Default Feed” – I had no idea what that meant. You also had this under “Miscellaneous” implying that it’s not important/optional when actually the plugin doesn’t work without it.
The instructions don’t explain it either:
4. Set your default page id and any other settings you wish to adjust.
For the Facebook app I just got really confused by all the options that were present on the page when I created it. I didn’t realize that all I needed to do was create the app then grab the App ID & Secret.
Because I didn’t realize that “Default feed” is where you set which Facebook page to pull the feed from, I thought I had to set it in the app itself and got really confused.
Thanks for taking the time to offer some feedback! It is much appreciated.
I will see what I can do to make things a little clearer. It’s been awhile since I’ve really combed through my documentation and I’ve added quite a few small things since then.
I can help you with this one. Here is what I did to get it working:
1. Log into Facebook
2. Go to: https://developers.facebook.com/apps/
3. Click Create New App
4. Add a name for the app, which has to be less than 32 characters but can contain spaces. I used: Publish Feed.
5. Add namespace. I used: masthaiboxingfeed
6. Add a contact email address
7. Add the domain of your website without http or www. I used: masthaiboxing.com
8. Disable Sandbox mode
9. Click on Website with Facebook Login
10. Add your full site url. I used: http://www.masthaiboxing.com
11. Click Save Changes
12. Copy your app ID and App Secret
13. Go to your facebook page. Click on Edit Page > Edit Settings
14. Click Page Info tab
15. Scroll down and copy the Facebook Page ID
16. Go back to the settings page for this plugin in your wordpress admin area
17. Paste the codes in the appropriate boxes.
My result was this: http://www.masthaiboxing.com
Facebook Feed is on frontpage.
I hope this helped!
Thanks Alex for taking the time to write this! I will integrate it with what I’ve updated already but haven’t published yet.
