I will need to get back to the client to get access to her Facebook admin. This may take a little time.
Ok, please let us know then the outcome.
Whilst waiting, I have tried changing the language to French for all labels.
The Like and Share labels for Facebook are still displaying in Dutch.
Yes, there seems to be happening something on the site which overwrites the correct values.
Another idea: is it an option to change the theme, at least temporarily? Might be insightful if that fixes things…
I checked your website, I cannot stop myself from pointing to those icons https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/Realestate-themed-icons/ 😉
Tried swapping to Twenty Seventeen theme, but no change.
Ok, thanks for trying this. Please then try it with placing the buttons from Facebook directly.
Still waiting on the client for access to her Facebook account.
I have noticed that the popup that I have added to the bottom of the page https://rowaurora.co.uk has everything in English.
Could this be an issue with the shortcode that is used for the icons at the top of that page?
And 5 minutes later the popup is now back to showing Dutch for Like and Share.
Strange… please keep posting here any insights you get, it can all help to get to the bottom of this.
I tried viewing the site using a VPN set to Holland, and then the UK but no difference (I’m based in France.)
The site is hosted by SiteGround from Amsterdam. Not sure if that is relevant.
(Sorry – logged in from different account. Still rowaurora.co.uk. )
Yes, if it’s hosted in Netherlands, and the buttons show up in Dutch, then I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Maybe can you ask Siteground if they set up the site in a way which makes the Facebook icons “believe” they are in the Netherlands?
Here is the response from SiteGround:
Vesela S.: It is not related with the servers, as you can have your site in any Language you wish
Vesela S.: it is associated with the plugin codes and configuration
