Support » Plugin: Loco Translate » Not detecting languages files in WPLANGDIR

    Hi,

Great plugin – we’re really thrilled by the simplicity of it. It just works… Mostly.

My bbPress languages files are in /wp-content/languages/bbpress/, and are not detected by Loco Translate. It works when they’re in the plugin directory, but then I’d loose them at the next update.

Is there any chance I could hack my way around this?

    Thanks!

Currently Loco Translate only looks for packages that are either plugins or themes. This means that core language files – such as yours – are not observed.

I’ll consider this a feature request and see about including other common directories in future releases.

For now, my only suggestion would be to make a dummy plugin and symlink your language files into it.

Sounds good – thanks. A backup/restore feature could also be useful.

I’ll def. buy you a beer if that makes it into the plugin 🙂

    Hello.
I’m looking at this WP_LANG_DIR issue now, but slightly confused about bbPress. I downloaded it and it appears like a plugin with a languages directory of its own.

Which distribution are you using that has its translations in the global languages folder?

I’ve worked out what you mean now.

The current development version 1.3 has support for this now. It should be published live shortly.

Current development version (1.4.2) has a basic backup feature added. No restore though.
