Hi. I’ve read the docs and guides for the plugin but I’m confused about why it’s converting some images but not others on a local site I’m developing. I’m using the plugin on a page where the images are in a slideshow generated by an ACF pro repeater field. I have a slideshow with 5 images, all from the same camera at the same size. When I use the network inspector in dev tools only one of the images have been converted to webp, the other 4 remain as jpgs. I know the plugin won’t convert the images if the resulting webp is bigger than the jpg, but I don’t think that’s the case here as the jpgs are pretty big, 1.3mb in one case. When I go to the media gallery and look at the images that haven’t been converted in the browser it’s saying that they have been converted in the media gallery, but they’re just not coming through in the browser. Any idea why this is happening?

It’s on a local host dev site at the moment, but I could put the draft site up on a temporary url if it’s necessary?

@jonoces The weight of some images converted to WebP format was not less than the original files and therefore the original files are used. This is because your images have already been optimized.

I also recommend you to try the AVIF format on your website. I did an analysis to learn more about the potential benefits of using the AVIF format for you. Images converted to the AVIF format on your website will weigh 51% less than images converted to WebP only, maintaining even better image quality. By using the AVIF format, all images converted to AVIF will be smaller than the original files. This will further improve the performance of your website.
