Maybe something went wrong when the original images were cached before watermarking. Please go to the /%wp-content%/ew_backup directory on your server and see if the images are there. If so, you can manually restore them (see FAQ). Please let me know what’s the situation.

Unfortunately I don’t see backup folder inside wp-content. Please assist, if there is any other way to restore original image.

    Thank you so much.

What happened with this? Were you able to restore your images?

Unfortunately no. I was waiting response from Plugin author for any alternate solution but didn’t get any response yet.

    Hello,

Sorry for this delayed answer. If you don’t have any files in the directory I mensioned, there is no way to restore the images. As I said, something went wrong during aplying the watermark, but that’s weird, because it should show you some error and should’t watermark the images if the backup was not created.

Are you sure you have set the option to turn on the backup feature on the plugin’s settings page?

Just after your answer I see my backup was not enabled. If this was required to restore the image it should be enable by default. I was not aware of this functionality.

And as you per your suggestion at this time no alternative to restore the image 🙁

Backup feature stores original images as separate files so it will need double space on the server’s disc. Due to this fact I decided to make it optional but not enabled by default. All this information are available in the FAQ section.

On the other hand, is your wordpress site the only place you keep your images? It’s normal to have the files on local storage, you shouldn’t delete the files after uploading to wordpress (what if your site is attacked, server is broken, anything?). If you have the files locally, just delete watermarked ones and upload them again.

Backup feature in Easy Watermark is made just to facilitate watermark removing but you shouldn’t rely on this feature as a backup mechanism.

Now it’s truly make sense what you are saying and will be used in next future watermarking. Thank you so much.

On the restore backup. I keep getting a popup saying error. will run about 5-30 seconds and does it. sometime i get 0% up to 6% before happening. I accidentally added it to the wrong images.

I did have backup checked and still do

so, after messing around, i noticed if it did that, i just went back into the restore option, and 10 were done, kept doing it till i got them all restored. 10 at a time. thank goodness i only had 238 images. i like the plugin, not the restore.
