Hi Pawel,
thanks for reaching out.
The main reason for this note is that Donation Platform for WooCommerce replaces “order” with “donation” everywhere in the frontend. The order process stays the same, but e.g. in the confirmation email it says “Just to let you know – we’ve received your donation #123, and it is now being processed”. In addition, there are some changes concerning the shopping cart (if a donation product is changed, the shopping cart is automatically emptied beforehand to avoid duplications).
Therefore, I advise you not to use WooCommerce as a donation platform and a normal shop at the same time. Instead, you could use a multisite setup.
Thanks your interest in Donation Platform for WooCommerce.
Best regards,
Jonas

Hi and thank you Jonas.
Very helpful explanation. The word “donation” could probably be replaced with a short script in functions, I guess. But the functionality of the shopping cart might be an issue. I think multisite is not the best solution for me, sadly, so I might need to hunt for another plugin, or wait until you – perhaps? – introduce an option to run it in parallel with the usual shop 😀
Thanks and best wishes

There are actually already several plugins that simply add “donation” as a new product type, or allow you to add any donation amount as an additional fee. I believe that these plugins could meet your requirements: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fundraising-donation/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-donations/
I agree, in the long term I will look into how parallel use can be made possible. For now, however, I will concentrate on the following new features:

Hi Pawel,
with the latest update, the possibility for normal products has been greatly improved. However, I’m not quite sure if it’s enough to cover your use case. If you haven’t found the perfect solution for you yet, you can take a look at it.
Best, Jonas

Hi and thanks Jonas,
I am at the moment processing donations manually, but I still like your plugin a lot so I will be curious to have a look at how the normal products can be supported now.
All the best, Pawel
