Noobish question about permalinks…

  • Hi there,

I was wondering how to create a new ‘folder’ in wordpress. When I create a site using dreamweaver, I often put my pages in a category folder e.g – http://www.site.com/products/product_a.html

I’m not using the site for blogging, so I only really use the page editor. How do I create the middle ‘products’ folder in wordpress?

  • Not sure this is what you need, but you can setup your permalinks structure (in Admin > Settings) to display (blog url)/category/post-title
And then you assign your posts to a category of your liking, with the relevant name. Mind you, even if the URL contains blog.com/category/title, this won’t be a “real” folder, this will be the fruit of the magic of URL rewriting.

Yeah, I’m aware of the custom permalinks, but I don’t know to apply it to creating new pages. At the top of the page editor, it shows me the permalink which looks like: localhost/newpage.html.

How do I create a new category and apply that page to it?

Oh, you’re not live on the internet, but locally on your machine ? Then, frankly, I have no idea. Sorry :/

In case someone else wishes to help, Skwurl, you may wish to precise if you really mean PAGES, as opposed to POSTS. Or if you meant posts.
