Hi @triptychdodger,
Thank you for reporting this! I completely understand how frustrating it is when a feature that was working perfectly suddenly requires a manual page reload to respond.
I want to reassure you that this is definitely not the intended behavior. I have just thoroughly tested this across 5 different clean test installations, and the folder switching and quick filters are all updating the media grid instantly in real-time.
Since I recently pushed some layout structural fixes, it is highly likely that your browser is aggressively caching the old JavaScript file, causing a mismatch that blocks the real-time AJAX updates.
To get this working smoothly again, please try these two quick steps:
- Check the PixelVault Version: Please ensure you have updated PixelVault to the latest version (v1.1.3).
- Perform a Hard Refresh: Once updated, go to your Media Library page and perform a hard refresh to force your browser to clear out the old cached scripts:
- Windows/Linux: Press
Ctrl + F5 (or Ctrl + Shift + R).
- Mac (Chrome/Firefox): Press
Cmd + Shift + R.
- Mac (Safari): Press
Option + Cmd + E to empty the cache, then reload the page.
Please give that a try and let me know if the folders and filters start snapping into place instantly again!
Best regards,
Rayhan
Definitely running 1.1.3. Cache has already been disabled in developer tools, but I tried the hard cache reset anyway, didn’t work. I switched to a new browser that the site has never been opened in, no go. Tried an incognito window. Still doesn’t work 🙁
ETA: Even though I haven’t come across any plugin conflicts, this is still the only plugin installed on this site so far. I’m using the Divi 5 theme. I tried their theme cache reset, too (even though that’s limited to CSS) just hoping…but no.
Thank you @triptychdodger for trying those steps and for providing the additional details about your environment, knowing you are using the Divi 5 theme helps narrow things down.
Since the hard refresh didn’t clear it, there might be a corrupted file or hook state left over from the update sequence. Let’s try a clean reinstall of the plugin files without losing your data:
- Go to PixelVault > Settings > General and ensure that “Delete All Data on Uninstall” is disabled (unchecked) so your folder structure remains completely safe in the database.
- Go to your Plugins page, deactivate, and delete PixelVault.
- Reinstall and reactivate v1.1.3 fresh from your dashboard.
Since this isn’t a widespread major bug across standard installations, it points toward a specific integration quirk with the new Divi 5 builder framework. I will set up a dedicated Divi 5 test environment on my end to thoroughly test this combination and apply any necessary code adjustments in the next update.
Please let me know if the clean reinstall gets the real-time filtering back on track for you!
I was so hopeful. Still doesn’t work. I’m going to start a new site on Local, install the plugin and see what happens there. I’ll check back shortly!
That worked. I installed a new site, plugin works as expected. The original site had only Divi 5 and the PixelVault plugin, too, but I guess too many updates…I dunno. This might be an issue for other users, though. Especially when a site is established and starting a new one isn’t feasible. But for now, at least, I’m aware of it. I’ll look at some side-by-side comparisons in the plugin’s code files and see what pops up as different. There has to be something. I’ll let you know. For now, though, I’ll mark this particular request as resolved. Thanks!
I have checked on a Divi site, everything is working fine. Thank you so much
