    Hi,

    After updating this afternoon to version 7.3.5 then 7.3.6, I noticed the error message “Nonce key is invalid” in a red box at the top right corner of all the pages where there’s a comment section.

    As mentioned here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/nonce-is-invalid/, I’ve deactivated the plugin, emptied all the caches (including CDN), reactivated the plugin, but the message is still there. I also tried in Incognito mode with several browsers, didn’t solve the problem.

    Is there a fix for this issue?

    Here’s an example of a page where the error message appears: https://www.randos-montblanc.com/moyen/lac-blanc.html

    Thanks in advance for your answer.

    @ppahv,

    1. Please let us know what cache plugin you use.
    2. Check all options of your cache plugin and disable JS/CSS/HTML minification and optimization options.
    3. Disable “Combine JS and CSS Files to Optimize Page Loading Speed” option in Dashboard > wpDiscuz > Settings > General Settings admin page.

    I am having this same issue lately, haven’t been getting any comment πŸ™

    @trucker,
    Have you updated wpDiscuz to the latest 7.3.7 version?
    If so, please delete all your caches again, purge CDN if you have and press Ctrl+F5 on website front-end to reset the browser cache.

    Yes I am to testing it now.
    Before, Whenever I cleared the cache, it was working well for like a few hours and still got the issue again and again.
    I didn’t know about the bug until someone sent me an email. Always wondering why I haven’t got any comment in a month. Before I usually get 7-10 comments every day πŸ™

    @trucker,
    Please leave your website URL.
    Make sure the “Use WordPress native AJAX functions” option is turned on in wpDiscuz > Settings > General Settings tab.

    Combine JS and CSS Files to Optimize Page Loading Speed
    Minify JS and CSS Files to Optimize Page Loading Speed

    Should I turn off these settings also? Thanks!

    @trucker,
    Yes, you can, don’t forget to delete all caches properly again. If the issue still exists leave the following information:
    1. Your cache plugin name
    2. Your website URL

    Before, Whenever I cleared the cache, it was working well for like a few hours and still got the issue again and again.

    This is a limitation of caching nonces. They expire after 24 hours, so if the page is cached for longer, it starts to contain an expired/invalid nonce.

    Set your cache expiration to 1 day.

    @gvectors-team will you consider using a security method other than nonces?

    @gvectors-team Thank you for your reply. I’ve updated to 7.3.7, emptied all the caches (CDN and WP Rocket cache), and the error message “Nonce key is invalid” as well as “Nonce is invalid” have disappeared. My visitors and I can post comments again like before. Thanks for the fix πŸ™‚

    @gvectors-team I updated to 7.3.7 and even though I am not getting the ‘nonce key is invalid’ notice anymore, I am not getting an error message in the backend of the website:

    PHP out of memory error. This may have affected WP Fusion’s functionality. Consider increasing the available memory on your site or deactivating some plugins. Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes)

    /home/customer/www/mysite.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-user.php:521

    When this has happened in the past, it seemed to suggest that there was a memory leak of some sort – when I revert back to 7.3.6, the ‘out of memory’ notice disappears but the ‘nonce key is invalid’ returns.

    All cache is cleared; any fix for this?

    Kind regards,

    Neil

    *sorry, I meant ‘I am not getting a message `in the backend of the website:

    PHP out of memory error. This may have affected WP Fusion’s functionality. Consider increasing the available memory on your site or deactivating some plugins. Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes)

    /home/customer/www/mysite.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-user.php:521`

    When enable Browser Cache it gives this NONCE error.

    That will create less a mess. In addition, you’ll be able to supply a link to your site in the special URL field that is not shown to search engines.
