When installing, it made me create a wordpress.com account which automatically created a wordpress website on there. After closing that account, I now get the following error when trying to go to the plugin settings:
    Error determining the connection status

I have removed and reinstalled the plugin, and it still just goes to that error when I try going to settings.

    1. How do I clear out that error?
    2. How do I use this with MY website that is not hosted by you?

I think the account closure is likely the cause of the error.

For context, WooCommerce Payments uses a WordPress.com account to connect your site to the WooCommerce Payments servers. It is used to ensure that requests (for payments, refunds, etc.) from your site are securely and correctly attributed to your store.

You have two options going forward:

    1. Contact WordPress.com support, then have them reopen your account, but leave the WordPress.com site deleted, since you don’t plan on using it.

    2. Open a new WordPress.com account using this special link, which will *only* create a user account, without taking you through the site creation process:

    https://wordpress.com/start/account/user

Once you have either reopened the old account or just made a new one, you can use that account to connect WooCommerce Payments and be on your way. 🙂

Even if I create a new account, how do I get past the “Error determining the connection status.” error? It doesn’t ask for an account or anything, as soon as I install this plugin, activate, and click settings, it says “Error determining the connection status.” It also states “Customer bank statement is invalid. Statement should be between 5 and 22 characters long, contain at least single Latin character and does not contain special characters: ‘ ” * < >”

You may need to disconnect and reconnect Jetpack as explained here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/

It also states “Customer bank statement is invalid. Statement should be between 5 and 22 characters long, contain at least single Latin character and does not contain special characters: ‘ ” * < >”

I think this might also be because the Jetpack connection needs refreshed, but I could be wrong. Let me know if disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack as I described above does not fix this as well, and if not, we can dig deeper.

    Thanks! 🙂

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

I ended up just signing up for a stripe account cause it’s free anyways.
