How do I get the pages to be in the order I want? For instance, I might want History first, then Blog, then Class Descriptions. In case it makes a difference, this is based on the Pool theme. (does the them make any difference to most how-to questions?)

  • You can specify them manually in the file, but that’s a burden if you ever need to add new pages. Other than that I think WordPress always uses the Alphabetic order thing.

No, it’s not always alphabetical. You specify page order in the admin area (edit each page and give it a sort value) and assuming that template is using the right tag, it’ll show up as “menu order”.

Oh, yeah, forgot about that one, heheh.. Thanks for that save.

At the bottom of the “Class” page and the “History” page, I clicked on Edit This Entry. On the right, there is a + for Page Order and I clicked on that, then put a 3 for Class and 2 for History (with Save for each) but it’s still alphabetical. Any other ideas? And if I want the Blog page to be in a position other than 1, how do I tell it what page to be?

Go to your theme, and look for the template tag displaying the pages. I am guessing it might be wp_list_pages. You can find more info at: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_pages to have it arranged as you please

Thanks for the tip. I’ve decided to do it another way, just put the pages as a blog entry and put it in a Category. that way I only have a few pages on top.
