• Hi guys,

When a post is published on “Private”, it seems that WordPress automatically places a noindex tag one the page.
However, the /amp/ version does not contain the “noindex” tag

  • Why would you want an AMP page with noindex? You should turn it off (hide it) instead.

What people do not appreciate is AMP is not a mobile version of your web site. It is a collection of posts/pages hosted by google. They decide on whether to display an AMP post or not. It is mainly for providing fast versions of articles. Hence why google insists on the Article/Blog posting structured markup.

    Hi @frenchomatic
If I set my post as “Visibility: private” in WordPress, then it’s pretty obvious that I do not want to have my corresponding AMP page indexed.
Therefore, it should have a nonidex tag, the same way the private page has

If you don’t want an amp page indexed then don’t create the amp version in the first place.

That is what I am trying to say “set to hide in the sidebar for that page” – the misunderstanding here is that many think AMP is an opportunity to build a mobile version of their site which google will favour SEO wise.
