# noindex doesn’t work

 * The option “**Allow search engines to show Publish search results?**” Is it related
   to noindex? If so, why, by changing this field to “no”, is the robots.txt file
   not changed?
 * Is “Noindex” a term used in robots.txt? If Yoast SEO has robots.txt integration,
   why when I change the fields “**Allow search engines to show Publish search results?**”
   and / or “**Should search engines follow links on this Post?**“, also the robots.
   txt file is not changed?
 * I am asking these questions because regardless of the changes I make in the fields“
   Allow search engines to show Publish search results?” or “Should search engines
   follow links on this Post?”, my robots.txt file remains the same. Does not change.
   If I don’t change it manually, it will always be filled with **_User-agent: \*_**
   and **_Disallow: /_**

 * We do not use the robots.txt to noindex URLs but use a meta tag for search results
   and any post/page you set to noindex.
    `<meta name="robots" content="noindex,
   follow"/>` (or nofollow if you choose to)
