I have never been able to really enjoy this plugin… always problems, be it CSS, or bootstrap, or conflict with the theme. Now my widget has cleared the documents, and I’m not able to upload anything!
Can I ask for a proper investigation on my installation?
Also, I don’t understand why documents can be added via posts or uploaded.

Sure I can help, but Im not clear what you mean on a couple of issue.

One what do you mean by the widget has cleared the documents, please expand on that.

Two I have no idea what you mean by

Also, I don’t understand why documents can be added via posts or uploaded.

    all right, I’m also investigating….

    1) widget – I discovered that it shows empty of files if I’m logged out. I guess it’s because the files are available only to members. But this is a new feature, because I’m certain that it used to show the files anyway, and the message “login to download” appeared only if one clicked on the document and was directed to its post. So, is it possible to always show a few of the available documents?

    2) upload – something might have happened overnight because I cannot uload documents anymore from the admin.php?page=memphis-documents.php page. It looks like it’s doing it but on page refresh the file is not in the assigned folder.

    3) posts vs. archive (Memphis Docs vs. mDocs Posts) – My first question is: do we still need to have a “default plugin document” in order for Memphis to work, or has this been resolved? My second question is: if one can upload from one interface (Memphis Docs) why then it’s also possible to create a new document in mDocs Posts? The latter is just a default WordPress post and doesn’t have the possibility to add to a folder… so wouldn’t the two systems come into conflict with each other?

    1) the widget never said please download, but you are right that they don’t show up currently for non logged in users. I will have a fix that will show the list now to all users.
    2) You are going to have to open a browsers inspector and see if any errors are occurring. What changes have you made last night, when was the last time upload worked?
    3) You do not need the default documents page in order for mDocs to work, feel free to delete it.
Created a mdocs Post is just a mDocs feature. It allows users to link to a pages rather than just a specific file download. There is no conflict between the two. One is a file the other is a WordPress page.

…thank you for the clarifications, always eager to know about upcoming updates.
About the upload problem, I have this errors, but related to css:
page=memphis-documents.php was not loaded because its MIME type, “text/html”, is not “text/css”.
I didn’t do any change to the plugin. I’ve only started uploading my first documents but succeeded only for 2.

You did not change the plugin, but did anything else change. It’s very weird that the plugin would be working one day then stop the next and nothing has changed with it.

oh yes, one thing… yesterday I tested a csv import for some custom-post-types I have, and for some reason it added a few categories to Mdocs. I have deleted the categories, but maybe some commas were injected in Mdocs. What do you suggest? Reinstall it? Wouldn’t I lose my settings?

    (@bhaldie)

yes you would lose your settings.

I would try Filesystem Cleanup that may help.

mmmh, that doesn’t sound like a plugin but something on Unix level… beyond my skills 🙁

    (@bhaldie)

no no… its in the mdocs dashboard Options > Filesystem Cleanup.

all right, even if the Cleanup didn’t detect anything wrong, the file upload is now working again! Thank you very much for your support, top notch as always! 🙂

Sorry to bother again, but right after today’s update the widget shows empty both for logged in/off users. Please double check, might be a bug?

everything looks fine on my test site.

Please remove all mdocs widgets then add them again and see what happens.

Also if the files are hidden or private non logged users will not see them. The only way a non logged in user will see files in the widget is if the file is set to public or downloadable by non members.

removed and reinstalled, but still empty. I know about the non-loggedin options, but I’m logged in as Admin and I’m seeing the widget empty

try this goto the widget and change the “Number of Items in List:” then press save.
