• I wish I could leave negative stars. This is the worst slider I’ve ever used and I maintain a lot of sites. Their plan for mobile is to make two sliders and use a plugin to switch between them. That’s ludicrous. I had to write a css hack to scale it in mobile and it takes a ton of media queries. Good sliders, like Smart Slider 3, provide updates for life and have settings for mobile scaling. SS3 even provides support for life. Not MetaSlider. They’ll drop support and updates unless you keep paying. Support I understand but they won’t give you an update when new wp core is released. So if there’s an exploit you have to pay again.
It’s not intuitive. It’s not wysiwyg. Live editing isn’t even close to the actual display. If you want things like gradients you have to put them is your css instead of having it in the plugin. The only good thing about this slider is speed and the sacrifices you make for a millisecond are not worth it.
It also will fill your dashboard with nags. And the nags don’t have a x button to remove them. You are stuck with them. Avoid this plugin like the plague.

  • Hi,

The reviews here are for the free plugin, not our commercial product.

We have a contact page for the pro version: https://www.metaslider.com/support/

Contact us there and we can discuss why we have this business model and how it benefits everyone. We can offer you a renewal coupon as well.

Final note, we don’t disable the plugin when the license expires, so you should be fine to use it as is for as long as you want.

    Hi,
I realize the plugin continues to work after support expires but most devs still allow updates because if a plugin is compromised we should be able to get the fix. Many infected websites are attacked through security vulnerabilities from plugins that have not been updated. I have a lot of premium plugins that have expired. Yours is literally the only one I can’t update.

Our core functionality is in the free plugin, so if we do somehow have a vulnerability we can address it in the free version easily and quickly, which anyone can update. I kept it this way by design.

Further to that, I try hard to make sure I don’t introduce breaking changes in the free version that affect the pro too, since I realize some people can’t update.

My point being, the goal is to provide value to everyone, responsibly, and trade some extra features for what we believe is a fair price for our time.

You’re allowed to hold a different opinion though. We also value transparency so I’m happy to be honest about how we do business. I appreciate the feedback and will look into making the 1 year terms more clear on the checkout pages.

I have the pro version and it won’t update when there is a new wp core update. And my dashboard is filled with nags from you. They have no x button to remove them. I’m literally going to have to buy another plugin just to clean up the dashboard.

@ranxx Check the console for errors. Likely there are JavaScript errors from another plugin that causes ALL JavaScript to fail.

Pro version will update if you have an active license. You can message us on the pro support to help with that.
