• Hi
Is it possible. I changed thre URLS – permalinks – to /%postname% -> so no trailing slash.
the Performance goes down. I measure it and it the loading time increases badly.
Is tihs all about the internal canonical link?

  • Hi,

I am not able to replicate your issue.
Removing trailing slash from permalink does not slow down the site.

    I had done a screen-cast.

Perhaps, it’s a plugin on your website that is slowing down your page load speed.

    Thank you

    Hi Denzel,
Thanks for your reply and for the sreencast – wow – i like this – i also will do a screencast…
I know this Configuration Attribute and used it.
First is started with permalink /%postname%/ -> a seo tool points me to the fact that my ressources are available with and without trailing slash. (duplicate content)
I checked this – and yes this was possible. I checked “google”, and made adaptions in .htaccess -> i couldn’t solve it

OK – the website is new …so no problem to change to /%postname%
-> it seems to work well but than again the site was callable with both ways (with/without)
-> now i think this must be a local issue on my computer/browser – but i am still not sure.
ALso i read about poor performance with /%postname%
    -> i made performance test with http://www.webpagetest.org
The same configuration -> without trailing slash the response time increases significant.
Unfoutunatley -> i want a well working solution and cannot spend much time on research – measuring with different tools bring different results,…
-> therefore i use /%postname% and will hope that it is ok – if further SEO proofing will show problems i will react, but the whole topic seems to be very easy to configure, but brings some inexplicable testresults.

Nevertheless – thank a lot for your response – maybe there are some guys out there
who made also some curious experiences with the permalink issue.
