Dated. it just doesnt format well. it looks old. it breaks easily. its unwieldy. you cant quite get it to do and behave like you want.
@paul totally agree, its like the stone age!
@markfethney, @paul
“Dated” and “stone age” aren’t really very constructive. Similarly for “can’t get it to behave like you want”.
I haven’t been using WordPress for a very long time, but I’ve always found plugin support to be kind of a sore spot. While there’s always room for improvement, I think BuddyPress has done a great job keeping up-to-date with WP core. And the generic theme support they added addressed one of its biggest problems, that of requiring a custom theme. What little I’ve seen of how BP fits into a random theme, I think it looks pretty good.
It would be nice if you could either provide more constructive and specific criticism, or else suggest a different plugin that does something similar that you prefer?
@sootsnoot well Id go deeper but its uninstalled now and Ive found a plug-in that suits me (UM) and i purchased all the plugins. For me this solutions rocks cages, it is everything (ok paid) that I wanted and more.
I hope you had a look at sites https://buddyforms.com/ or http://buddydev.com/ where you can get an idea how flexible BuddyPress is. Even if you want to go cheap on a theme and buy it on Themeforest there are a lot that support it out of the box. There are whole solutions offered at https://www.buddyboss.com and if there is anything with the plugin you want to have more modern then just give them a helping hand or hire a dev to do it as you already git the plugin free.
Kind regards
