• I created a blog for my site a few years ago using WordPress.com (investsafely.wordpress.com) and mapped it to my domain (invest-safely.com), and was wondering if my content/topic would be worth converting to wordpress.org or if the .com software was good enough.

Thoughts? Suggestions for new content or plug-ins that would help?

  • It’s really up to you – this isn’t the kind of question anyone else can answer. .COM and .ORG run on the same software – it’s just a matter of how much control and flexibility you have with your site. Are there things you want to do that you cannot do on .COM? Are you willing and able to take care of the backend maintenance that a self-hosted site requires? Are you okay losing some of the .COM “network” functionality – “likes,” sharing, etc. are not all available on .ORG sites.

Thanks for the response! It sounds like the .com site will do the trick for the time being, but the .org may be something to entertain when I need more flexibility. I’m sure there are some plug-ins that I’m missing out on…
