    Hi there
I suddenly had a thought the other day that I hadn’t seen any emails coming from my contact form. It has either been really quiet, or it has stopped working.

So I logged in, took a look and noticed that recaptcha was being a bit… meh! So I swapped v3 for v2 using https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcf7-recaptcha/ and left that for a few days. Same issue, even during my own testing.

So I removed recaptcha altogether and still I’m seeing the red bordered prompt:

<div class="wpcf7-response-output wpcf7-display-none wpcf7-mail-sent-ng" style="display: block;" role="alert">There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.</div>

and I’m still not receiving emails. So, I installed https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-cfdb7/ and I can see that form entries are now being saved to the DB for me to manually review, but the emails still aren’t being sent to me as and when a user submits.

I checked my PHP logs – nothing there. I checked Apache/nginx logs (because why not), nothing there. I can’t find any reason why all of a sudden I’ve stopped receiving the email notifications. Everything is setup correctly and nothing has changed on my forms to prevent emails from sending.

Weirdly… the only email that I can get to work is one from my own wp-admin email address. Every single other email address I’ve used (legit and for testing) just doesn’t work.

I swapped out wp_mail for SMTP (using Google) and I’m now seeing emails come through, so can only assume something broke in wp_mail for me…
