No slides showing up?

Excuse the newbie question…
I installed slideshow onto the wordpress site at my work place. Everything went easy-peasy. Created a slide show, just two pics to start. Saved it. Went to put it on my static front page of the website as a widget. Put it in “home top” and hit save. Went to my website, refreshed and there is a space where the slideshow should go but no images.
Obviously I’m missing something basic. Any ideas on where to start?
