Support » Fixing WordPress » No Sidebar on Comments Page with Default Template

I downloaded WP1.5 today and have been trying it out on my dev server.

I’ve noticed that when when viewing comments or after submitting a comment there is no sidebar using the ‘default’ (Kubrick) template.

I thought maybe I had accidentally munged something so I unzipped the default template again. Still no dice.
I thought maybe it was the proper behaviour so I tried it with the ‘classic’ template and the sidebar shows when viewing comments.

I noticed that in the ‘classic’ template the get_sidebar function call is at the top of footer.php and in the ‘default’ template the get_sidebar function call is at the bottom of index.php.

I tried both moving and adding the get_sidebar function call (as well as a closing div) to the top of footer.php and it sort of works … the div doesn’t start at the top of the page, it starts at the bottom of the content .. although it is on the right side of the page. (CSS position is definitely not my strong suit).

This behaviour occurs whether or not I am logged in. I’m using Firefox 1.0.3. I tried downloading both the .zip and .tar.gz files (in case there was a discrepancy).

Any help would be appreciated since I’m at a loss. Thanks!

That is a design feature of the default and Classic is different in that respect. There is I think a theme somewhere with the sidebar omnipresent.

Oh. I’m not sure taking the navigation menu away from the user should be considered a feature but thanks for the heads up.

There is a solution to that “design feature”:

Thanks for the link! I guess my search terms weren’t ambigous enough when I did my search. 🙁
