No Sidebar Defined

Hey everyone,

First off I’d like to say that I’m new to editing the WordPress software, I’ve run the software from WordPress.com for some time but I changed to my own host to be able to add themes and mods.

Well the problem is, I’m running a Brazilian Portuguese blog for my school which I’ll teach them the basics so they can get started so I won’t be the one updating it til the school dies.

So the first problem comes when I try to edit the widgets, by adding a text box and so, the thing is that it doesn’t allow me to edit/add/delete the widgets, it tells me to add some html/php codes into the template, BUT i can’t understand what codes and where. How do I fix this?

Secod Thing:

I’ll need to edit the text Home and About and translate it to portuguese, where do I do it?
