Support » Fixing WordPress » No related content plugins show up with my theme

  • Hello everyone,

I’ve been trying to install a “related content” plugin on my theme ( for the past week or so, but no matter which plugin I install (I’ve tried 5 different ones), none of them will show up on the site.

I’ve tried both the automatic and the manual install (on my single.php page) for each plugin. I have also tried switching my theme, which does allow the “related content” to show up at the bottom of each post, which means that the issue lies in my theme, unfortunately.

Does anyone have any advice for what may be wrong? It is my first custom theme so I am sure there are many areas for improvement. I did validate my CSS with the W3C checker, and there are no errors there, so I’m kind of at a loss.

Thanks very much in advance for any help you may have to offer!

(Hopefully I put this in the right forum–please let me know if I should move it somewhere else!)

  • I don’t know why the other four didn’t work, but I think I can see why this one isn’t working. It uses JavaScript, and I don’t think it’s using it correctly. I looked at the source code of one of your post pages, and the JS for the related posts is there in the code, it’s just not showing up on the actual post (obviously). Take a look for yourself and compare it to the guidelines at

If Yet Another Related Posts Plugin isn’t one of the five you’ve already tried, I’d try it.

It doesn’t use any JavaScript, just pure PHP, so the output that gets served to the user’s browser is just HTML. Fewer complications that way.

    Hi Triplanetary,

Thanks so much for your response! I just installed YARPP and unfortunately am still having issues with having any related posts show up. It’s so weird–I do have a social media plugin that inserts itself into my posts without any problem, so I wonder what’s different about the related posts plugins.

I guess something is horribly wrong with my coding. I just tried to validate my XHTML and have a ton of errors, but most of those have to do with my posts or widgets–not the code that I actually wrote for my theme! I must be doing something wrong there as well, but I have no idea what.
