  • Mine is doing the same thing.
I wish I knew the fix.

WP doesn’t seem to send passwords to administrators. So the best thing to do is to change your password to one you can remember, immediately, before you start choosing themes or posting new blog entries.

If this isn’t possible, do a backup (you should have the wp-backup plugin), export your wp tables, then do a re-install of your wp. And this time, take note of your password.

Hope this is helpful although I don;t know if WP can re-script it in such a way that it sends a username and password email right after install.

It’s all about how your host has configured your PHP for email.

Some disable it… (spam and such, I suppose).

If you search about, you should be able to turn up some WordPress email plugins that will send your mail alternate ways instead of via the php configured method.

i have just written a plugin to define the emails sent to user and admin on registration, and you can put the password in the admin email if you want to so you cvan tell users what it is if they dont get it, but it is still using the normal wordpress email functions, so if that was your problem, then this wont help.

I have this problem too. The odd thing is that as administrator I get an email saying a new user has been registered, but the new user doesn’t. This seems to indicate that it’s not a problem of email being blocked.

I’m having a similar problem but have nailed it down to my SBC Global users only. SBC sux

I had the same problem. When someone registered I got an email saying The name of the user, but the user did not get an email. I then had to register the user manually and tell them their password. I deactivated all plugins then reactivated them and that solved the problem.

I thought I was suffering from this problem, too, even on an alter-ego (ie not my admin email) of my own. It turns out that my alter-ego’s emailing system (Yahoo) was sending the WordPress password email straight into the Spam folder.

If you haven’t already (but I imagine you have), do check any spam/bulk mailing folders for the missing email.

I have the exact opposite problem. I never receive email about the activities but my users receive.

I have the problem with new users not getting e-mails as they should. My first user who registered got the password e-mail, and everything was fine. My second user had to wait a long while before she got the password e-mail. Then I registered a different username (not admin) and with another e-mail address and I did not get a notification e-mail saying that a new user had registered (as I did with the previous two), neither did I get a password e-mail to my new e-mail address.
I do not have any plugins or such. Help please?

I have a very similar problem.
It did work fine before though.

When a new user registers, they never receive the email with the password or activation/verification.

Same goes for “forgot password”, never receive email either.

    Thanks,
    Vitaliy
