Hi @adamridm
I just checked you site and I have seen that your site is not fully https. There are some Mixed Content warnings, which means that some contents are not served over https.
In your case I think you should use the Normal Add to homescreen option. Could you change this so I can check it again?
Kind regards,
Nico
I have also installed and set up the plugin to use the ‘Normal’ add to home screen pop-up is not come
Please help
My website is app.cashnod.com
Hello Nico, thank you for the quick reply. I was able to fix the mixed content issue but the pop-up still does not seem to work. Please let me know if there is any more info I can provide you to help troubleshoot the problem.
Thanks
Adam
Hi Adam
I fixed it in Version 2.1.5.
Could you update the plugin and see if it works now?
Kind regards,
Nico
Hi Nico, Thanks again for the quick reply, unfortunately, I have completed the update and it the plugin still does not seem to work. (nothing happening in mobile browsers)
Please let me know what other info I can provide to help debug the issue.
Best regards,
Adam
Hi Adam,
I just tested it with your site and it works as expected.
But at the end its the browser that decides if and when it shows the prompt. For example if you dismissed it before, it won’t be shown again.
To be sure you should go to Chrome Settings -> Settings -> Website settings -> storage -> search for your site and delete all data.
That way you could visit your website like a first time visitor.
Or you could go to chrome settings -> add to homescreen. That way your PWA will be added to your homescreen directly.
Kind regards,
Nico
Hi Nico,
Thank you again for all of your help. OK I tried clearing the cache and history for all my browsers on mobile and re-loaded the page but still, it does not work.
That being said I would like it to pop-up every time someone visits the home page (not just the first time) is that possible to do?
Thank you,
Adam
Hi Adam
What Browser/Version and OS are you using?
As I said: At the end its the browser that decides if and when it shows the prompt.
So no, you can’t show it everytime someone visits the home page. But you could create a custom pop-up that then triggers the browser prompt (using the Show "add to homescreen" banner = On element click).
Kind regards,
Nico
Hi Nico, I tried on Chrome, Safari and Firefox, iOS 12.0.1
I have tried adding the button class as well but it is not working. Also, if I am to add a button class will the ‘save to home screen’ feature only work on some browsers? Because that might be confusing.
Thank you,
Adam
Hi Adam
Ah. Now I got it.
The native install prompt works currently only on android. On iOS there is still no such feature.
Kind regards,
Nico
Ah OK! Sorry for taking your time, best regards!
Adam
No worries. I really hope Apple will catch up soon!
Kind regards,
Nico
Hi Nico,
I have the same issue on my site too, I don’t get the button displaying.
I can add it manually, and it all works ok.
I’ve tried deleting history and the cache. And tried on Android Chrome and the Samsung browser.
