• I have a brand new install of WordPress that I’ve integrated into my Magento e-commerce store. Everything seems fine except that no plugins seem to work in my posts. I just installed the WP-Polls plugin and it looks and works great on the back end. When I’m writing a post, it has the Insert Polls button that allows me to insert a poll with the syntax: [poll id="2"] However, when I check out the post on the front end it just has the text,

    [poll id=”2″]

and the poll is not visible. I’ve also tried to setup Jetpacks social sharing buttons and while everything looks great on the back end, the sharing buttons just don’t appear on the front end. I’ve tried several different plugins and NONE of them will appear on the front end. Any thoughts?

  • Something has disabled shortcodes on your site. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. 🙁 I’ve only been running the Twenty Twelve theme and I currently only have the Askimet, Jetpack and WP Poll plugins, though I’ve tried disabling them all. I’m wondering if something with Magento is conflicting. I don’t even know how I’d go about testing that though.

I’d be very surprised if Magento was the cause of this particular problem. It smacks of something internal to WordPress. Have you checked your site’s error logs for clues?

My Magento error logs or WordPress? I just setup the WordPress error log but haven’t been able to get anything to show up.

If anyone wants to take a look, you can see it here: http://theluckylabs.com/blog/news/welcome-to-the-lucky-labs-blog-3/

There should be the Jetpack sharing buttons at the bottom, but they just won’t appear.

Sorry – the server’s error logs. In the meantime, try deactivating all 3 active plugins and just activating the Hello Dolly plugin.
