When I go to my plugins the plugins page reads “Oops! That page can’t be found.” I also get the same message when I go to the themes page. Can anyone help me?

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Thanks James for your help. However, I did as you instructed, but the problem still remains. Do you have any other suggestions?

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I tried resetting the plugins but I still cannot access my themes page or the plugins page. I get the following message on either page:

“Oops! That page can’t be found. It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try one of the links below or a search?”

Maybe you need to clear database before reuploading all files? (make sure you have a backup at hand – this will reset everything including your wp-admin login)

The page links to this address if that means anything: http://www.ericdunbar.com/wp-admin/update-core.php

The problem might also be caused by file permissions rights on wp-content folder. I had this problem once with Linux Ubuntu rights/permission on a VPS. (sudo vs current wordpress user so on – mess between users).

The Plugins section is linking to update-core.php? 0_o

Are you sure you deleted and replaced the files as directed originally?

You were right James, I did not delete all the files. I walked through the process again and now everything is in order. Thanks so much for your advice.
