On my blog, there is no place to add comments. At the bottom of each post there are links that say, “posted in” and then the category, and then “edit’ and then “no comments”

What do I need to do to enable comments. I’ve checked okay for comments in the admin area.

    thanks
    Karen

  • Don’t be nervous and don’t do anything until you understand perfectly what we are saying.
Ask as many times as you need to be sure you got it.
(Sometimes we might see impatient, especially when what was said is not digested before posting back… but we don’t bite. At least, not often, LOL)

That said, let’s get back to the issue.
Let’s take one step at a time.
Question #1. Do you want to keep the existing index.html file as your site’s main page?
    Yes or no?

You guys must have the patience of a saint! And I’m really only a numb-nut when it comes to this stuff. Otherwise, I’m a fairly intelligent person.

Yes, I’d like to keep the existing index.html file as my site’s main page.

Moshu, I tried creating a new subfolder “wp” to put all the WP subfolders and files into. That worked. And I’ve copied the 3 wp subfolders into it. There are 17 wp-files that I can move. I’ll copy those too and still leave everything as it is and not delete anything until I hear back from you to make sure this is what you suggested.

    Good.
Then we go to the next step.
It means you will have to move the WHOLE WordPress installation into a subfolder of your site. Let’s say, you create a subfolder in the public_html (I’ll call it “the root” – it’s shorter) called “blog”.
After that the whole WP stuff, including the files and folders should be moved there. Unfortunately, there are some additional steps, too, which will complicate nicely your life 🙂

I’ve given the same instructions to this user:

    see if it helps.

If completely confused – contact me: my name here at transycan [dot] net and I can move it for you.

karen, at this point, if I were you I’d take moshu up on his offer. He’s VERY good at this, is one of the “trusted” individuals here.

Far far easier on your nerves to let him handle the details, get it running, and then tell you what he did.

Oh my god, I’m now just a quivering puddle on the floor after reading that. 🙂 Yes, please, I’ll contact you by email.
    Thank you, thank you.

There you go…. now, go have a glass of whatever libation you take as a “calmative”, and moshu will fix it.

Vkaryl, Thanks for your suggestion. That sounds like a smashing idea to me! 🙂

Oh yay, oh yay, oh yay. Going for a glass of wine after an all-day wrestle with trying to figure this out on my own first.

Heh. I’m a FIRM believer in having that “calmative” while letting someone else do the hard work! [Maybe an exaggeration, but you’ve been a trooper about this, helpful when you know the answers to the questions, calm, not antagonistic. So we’ll let moshu fix it, and then you’ll be on your way!]
