    Hi,

There is problem which appeared the recent big update.
The Pinterest save button doesn’t grab the OG images anymore like before. Actually it doesn’t find any images at all and this is very unfortunate since my post pages heavily rely on Pinterest traffic.

I’ve tested it on my staging website and I’m 100% sure that it was this exact 14 version update that caused it.

Is there a way to fix it?

I would greatly appreciate your help,

    Thank you.

    Roman.

We’re sorry our plugin update caused an issue on your site. Yoast SEO does not output the Pinterest save button which means that something else on your site is integrating with our plugin’s Open Graph feature.

In Yoast SEO 14.0, we made a conscious decision to move our meta data, to speed up sites tremendously, and we offered new filters to other plugins to update their integration. We communicated about this one month before the release of 14.0 but, unfortunately, the plugin that outputs the share buttons doesn’t appear to be compatible yet. That means you can’t update to Yoast SEO 14.0 or higher yet until their integration is ready.

Please reach out to the author or support team for the plugin that outputs the share buttons to request compatibility with 14.0

Thanks for the reply, there is no problem with reaching to the Social Warfare plugin to let them know about the issue, I’ll do it.

But what about the official Pinterest browser extension? Apparently it doesn’t want to grab images either after the recent update. Even with the social share plugin deactivated.

I have the same issue on a different website which has got a totally different theme and plugins and it got the same result. The official Pinterest extension doesn’t want to grab the OG image. It kinda seems wrong.

    Hi @woorooo ,

We checked the URL located here: https://www.dancelifemap.com/never-hold-back-love-dancing/

We found that the Yoast plugin is outputting the following OpenGraph image on your site:
    https://www.dancelifemap.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Screenshotter-IncompleteJamesBayAudreyCaseRoyalFlux-1’29”-e1586508660254.jpg?v=1586508663

Does the above image match the one you’ve selected for your article? We see that there are some parameters added to the URL.

We also checked another article, like this one and we found the Yoast plugin is outputting this image.

If the images we mentioned above match the ones you’ve selected for your posts, then the plugin is working correctly.

We also tried creating new pins on Pinterest, manually on their site, and we see that the images are recognized.

Please let us know if you have any further information.

Yes, I know that all the images and the OG info is there and yes, all the examples you’ve mentioned are the ones that are supposed to be there. And that is the problem, with the recent update, all the meta is there, but apparently something else is different. Because the problem still persists.

I’m really glad that there are no problems adding pins to the Pinterest manually, however my concern is that the browser extensions which millions use for this exact purpose to not do it manually, is not working as before.

I’m 100% sure that it happened after the update, because as I mentioned I’ve tested it a couple of times on 2 different websites. So something is definitely different even though the OG info is there.

@woorooo Have you tested whether reverting to a previous version of the plugin corrects the issue? Please note that previous versions of the plugin may not be secure or stable and are available for testing purposes only. However, if you wish to download a previous version of the plugin, you can do so by performing the following steps:

Yes, downgrading to version 13.5 solves the problem, though it’s not a fix 🙂 as you mentioned the risks. Anyways thank you for the suggestion, hopefully Yoast team will find a way to make it work on version 14 as well.

    Hi,

As you have downgraded and it has resolved the issue we will close this topic in order to keep the overview. If the issue happens again when you decide to update to the newest version of Yoast we would love to continue investigating this. We ask that you please then make a new topic and we can assist!
