Remove .htaccess file in the top level directory. Then, in Settings > Permalinks admin page, save the permalink settings. It will regenerate .htaccess file.

Also, remove wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_captcha directory. Contact Form 7 regenerates it next time it creates CAPTCHA.

Check Contact Form 7’s admin screen. Perhaps you will see an alert message about directory permissions.

    Thanks for answering.

I was aware of .htaccess and updated it accordingly for migration. However, I’ve done as you say but the problem persists, no captcha folder is created, and no alert is shown 🙁

Have you seen the edit page for the contact form containing CAPTCHA?

    You mean this?

Su nombre (requerido)
    [text* your-name]

Su e-mail (requerido)
    [email* your-email]

Asunto
    [text your-subject]

Su mensaje
    [textarea your-message]

[submit “Enviar”]

    [captchac captcha-385]
    [captchar captcha-385]

Yes, in that page, above the title field, don’t you see a message?

    No message, sorry.

Very strange issue, but already gone live, so I was forced to use a different tool. Anyway CF7 is not discarded for future projects.

    Thanks so much.

Good news. As I supposed to be, it was a nonsense.

I performed migration manually but besides 4 or 5 db queries none of the 3 or 4 migration guides I read told me about changing Settings > Media > Upload Folder. For some reason the full hosting path to development uploads was set, instead of relative ‘wp-content/uploads’.

CF7 is now running contact page in production.

    Many thanks.
