Support » Plugin: Admin Bar Edit Content Links » No Pages in Edit Content

  • Hi Brett, love your plugin, but since a few months I’m not able to select “Pages” to view in the Admin Bar. This is happening on multiple sites and for me this is the main reason to use your plugin. So for now, it’s useless to me.

Everytime I check “Pages” and hit save, the check is gone. I can select all the other options, only not pages.

Do you have any idea on how to fix this? I’m using WP 4.9.8 with Avada 5.7

    Hey @remcla
Thanks for starting a topic here. 🙂

I’ve just checked this on a fresh install of WordPress using the Twenty Seventeen theme and was able to choose “Pages” and see them in the admin bar menu without issue. I haven’t updated the plugin for 6 months, so nothing has changed recently.

The next steps I would suggest are to:
    1) Try deactivating the plugin and reactivating it
    2) Deactivate all your Plugins to ensure they’re not causing the problem. Reactivate the problematic one. If it works, there may be a conflict. Activate the others one-by-one and test the site to see if the problem ceases or returns, which may indicate the conflicting plugin.
    3) If nothing above works, then try deleting the bs_abep_settings option from the WordPress database and then going back to the settings screen and clicking “Save Changes.” The plugin should be showing the “Pages” box checked by default. In hindsight, this is not a great thing and I’ll be changing this soon but it shouldn’t be causing the issue you’re describing.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Thanks!

    Hey Brett,

First, thnx for all the help, really appreciate it.
    1) Try deactivating the plugin and reactivating it
    No change.
    2) Deactivate all your Plugins to ensure they’re not causing the problem.
No change. Deactivated all plugins and activated only Admin Bar. When I check pages and hit save, the check is gone.
    3) If nothing above works, then try deleting the bs_abep_settings option from the WordPress database
No change. Pages is checked as you predicted, but when hitting save, the check is gone.

I also switched between different theme’s, (twenty-seventeen, fiftheen, Avada) while all plugins where deactivated. I’ve got this problem on all my websites I manage, and they are on different hosting providers. If you want, I can give you a WP login so you can see for yourself.

WP is in Dutch by the way…

    Kind regards,
    Remco

    Hey Brett,

I think it’s related to version 1.4.2.1. Yesterday I found version 1.4.2 on one of my sites, and this version is working as expected.

I copied the plugin to an other site, and now it’s working again. So I treasure this version and i’m going to copy this to all my sites untill you may have a solution.

    Just an update…

    Thnxs!

    Hey @remcla

Had a busy few weeks here.

I saw that you tried deleting and re-saving your options. If you still have the latest version of the plugin installed on a site somewhere, could you look at the content of the option and paste that back here? The only other thing I can think of is that a plugin or your theme changes something about the page post type and my plugin doesn’t know how to render it.

    Thanks!

    Hi Brett,

In version 1.4.2.1 I have the following options (theme Avada):
    Message’s
    Pages
    FAQ
    Elastic Sliders
    Fusion Sliders

In the Admin Bar I see only Message’s and Fusion SLiders (because the rest is empty). I can check “pages” but it is unchecked after saving.

In version 1.4.2 I have the same options (theme Avada), but here also when I check “pages”, the check is gone after saving. The pages are visible in the Admin Bar!?! although they are unchecked.

In theme Twenty Seventeen (version 1.4.2.1), I only see message’s and pages. But here also pages is unchecked after saving. When I uncheck both, pages is checked after saving but not visible in the Admin Bar.

The websites are on differtent platforms with different providers. All are PHP 7.

Hope this info gets you any further.

    Kind regards,
    Remco
