No order-total value included in the order-received page payload

Hi, I have set up Google Analytics (UA) with Enhanced Ecommerce for my WC shop, and I am still not receiving any order total value in the payload of the purchase event. I can see that the pr1id, pr1qt, pr2id, pr2qt is included on the initiate checkout payload, and that is pretty much the very last time when prices are included in the payloads of an order’s. On the thank you page ([…]/order-received/[…]) no total value is present in the payload.
I am using Google Analytics Debugger in Chrome console to explore the events payloads. I have set up your plugin with basically all settings enabled, with the exception of cross domain tracking. i.e.
- Use Global Site Tag
- Enable Standard Tracking
- “Display Advertising” Support
- Use Enhanced Link Attribution
- Anonymize IP addresses
- Track 404 (Not found) Errors
- Purchase Transactions
- Add to Cart Events
- Enable Enhanced eCommerce

are all enabled.
I have placed three test orders, and only two have appeared in my Goal URLs report in GA. The third one did not appear there, which I am suspecting has to do with my experimenting with enabling/disabling the Use Global Tag checkbox. When gtag is enabled orders do show up in Goals URLs, but no order value is there, ever.
In Conversions Ecommerce > Checkout Behavior of GA’s I can see that Step 1 has recognized my activity, but it is showing a 100% Dropoff, and zero sessions with Transactions. Does it have to do with my on offering Cash On Delivery (COD) as the only payment option available during checkout?
I honestly can’t think of anything else that could be causing this behavior, other than COD.
I have checked and removed all duplicate code that existed, and your plugin is the only one running on all pages for GA.

set up a staging with all plugins deactivated, but for the woocommerce and yours that is, and the storefront theme enabled, and it appears like it is a conflict between your plugin and the theme and/or some of the plugins. I am in the process of debugging what might be the culprit here, by first activating the theme, and rechecking, then activating the plugins one by one, and checking after each one with a new order, until I discover the culprit here.

Update: It appears like a conflict between WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration and GTM4WP. I have deactivated GTM4WP and it works like a charm.
I then implemented some of the custom events that used to run through GTM, to run directly through the source code of the site, and it all works sweetly now.
I still have a question though: That was related to the Universal Analytics implementation. Your plugin does not support both UA and GA4 pixels to run in parallel. Does that have to do with a conflict between the two, and I should decide to choose only one at a single time, or is it just not supported by your plugin, but would run without a problem otherwise? Meaning, if I deactivated all UA tags from GTM and enabled GMT4WP to only implement GA4 related stuff from that direction, would that work, or would it break it again. Please share your insight if you may. You would save me some time from investigating this in a stage site also. Thanks.

Yes the plugin supports one or the other and not both. Google recommends using the GA4 and is expected to sunset the UA in mid 2023 and hence the recommendation is to move/upgrade to us GA only. Which is why the plugin supports just one and not both to be running in parallel.

I am aware of the recommendation to move to GA4 as early as possible, but we are not ready to make that move yet fully. Hence why we were trying to have UA to track everything the old way, and little by little make the transition to the latest version.

This is a restriction from the plugin. Google is fine to run them simultaneously as part of their effort to help migrate to GA4. Please note that Google recommends using them both to get a familiarity with the new tool. Hope you are ware that both these tools will report the data differently, and they may not match each other.
Yes, we are ware that they differ in reports; that is why we are not fully ready to leave UA as a thing of the past yet.
