    Hi Nitesh,

I ran a test auction first and all email notifications including the Paypal invoice were sent fine.

My first live auction has completed, and no notification emails were sent to the the successful buyer. I don’t know yet if bid update emails were sent to bidders.

I’m using the free version and I have purchased the Paypal invoice add-on but no paypal invoice was sent.

In the report for the expired auction, under the “email for payment” column, it says “Won by status: no”.

I am allowing people to bid without registering because the user experience for registering was so confusing for users. Could this be the reason no invoice was sent?

Do notification emails still get sent to bidders if they don’t register to bid?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I’m confused. Your first line says that all went fine but below you said that paypal invoice was not sent. If latter is true and If “email for payment” column, “Won by status: no” then it means that invoices were not sent and hence final email to buyer too.

Below can be the reasons for not sending invoice.

    1. Since you are bidding with non-registered user that can be the reason. Could you try the same with registered user?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear Nitesh.

In the first auction, I required user registration. All notifications including the Paypal invoice were sent.

In the second auction, I did not require user registration. The notifications and the Paypal invoice were not sent.

I switched off user registration because the process of registration is a very poor user experience. It’s convoluted and doesn’t return people to the auction they wanted to bid on once they’ve registered. That’s very likely to stop people bidding.

What I would like is to be able to run auctions without forcing people to register, but with the notifications still being sent, including the Paypal invoice. Surely this is possible to do?

    Thanks

    Paul

Just adding some input. I have setup the free version with no registration and the emails seem to be functioning fine so far. I received an email when I placed my bid. I will close out my test and let you know if everyone received the notification.

Thanks, I’d be really interested to hear the results.

For my auction, bidders got the first bid notification email but nothing after that.

    Hi Nitesh,

I just received an email from the winner of my last auction, she is getting notifications that she won the auction repeatedly – she has had 38 emails so far and they are still coming in.

The Paypal invoice has also been sent, 6 days after the auction finished.

The auction finished on the 17th, but the notifications are being sent out now. I’m going to delete the auction in the hope that this will stop the emails from spamming my customer, but this is really unacceptable. If they don’t stop I’ll have to delete the plug in and ask you for a refund on the PaytPal invoice module.

Can anything be done to sort this out?

Could you also confirm for me that the plugin uses the wp_mail() function to send emails please? If so I can block wordpress from sending any more emails to my customer until the problem is fixed.

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I had same issue in PRO few months back and fixed for it. I’ll check to port that fix in FREE/paypal addon.

Please write to nitesh[at]auctionplugin.net to co-ordinate to get updated version of paypal addon.
