    Hello,

Although all custom posts show in the drop-down menu when creating a notification, none of them would work.

    Custom posts include:

    – Grand media album
    – DWQA Questions/Answers
    – Pro Event Calendar
    – Panorama Project Manager

When I set up an email notification for a custom post, I (admin) nor anybody else in the receiving list receive the email notification. The “test notification email” works fine. It’s just that the notification is not triggered when a new custom post is published.

Only standard post notifications works for me so far

    Please help. Thank you.

    Hi @timbudong,
    Thanks for your message.

A couple of things to try are:

    • Check that the custom post types are public and that you can access them correctly. Some plugins create what look like custom post types, but in fact aren’t and don’t add posts to the database in a way that is notification friendly.
    • Install an SMTP plugin to ensure deliverability of emails.

Let me know how you get on with the above.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

    Thank you for the feedback.

    1) how can I check if the custom posts are public or private? They all show in the drop-down list: doesn’t it mean they are public?

    2) I do not think i have an issue with the deliverability of emails as it works fine on standard posts and email notification tests.

    Thank you!!

    Hi @timbudong,

I think the custom post types are public but might not be inserting posts into the database in the correct ‘WordPress-friendly’ way. Are you able to create your own custom post type using something like the CPT UI plugin and test with a new notification?

I would install an SMTP plugin anyway as anything that’s different that’s being sent from a WordPress site could be perceived as SPAM depending on the sensitivity of your host, etc. It just rules it out as a potential issue and I have seen this before.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hello,

I have installed CPT UI and was able to create a custom post type. It did appear in the dropdown list on the BNFW notification creation page.

I did not create a new custom post as I am simply unaware on how to do that, therefore I was unable to check for notifications for new custom posts.

    🙁

    Hi @timbudong,

Ok, so you’ve created a custom post type using CPT UI and you can now see the custom post type in the drop down menu in BNFW.

You’ll need to create a notification for this post type and then create a new post under this post type. Your post type should show in the WP Admin Sidebar along with Posts, Pages, Media, etc. That’s where you can add a new post and test your notification.

Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi jack,

Thank you for the follow up.

I have successfully created a new custom post type notification, and it did work when I created a new Custom Post.

Should I conclude than none of my plugins are compatible with BNFW?

    Thank you!

    Hi @timbudong,
Yes, I think so. Some plugins insert posts into WordPress in a non-standard way and as such, notifications won’t be able to be sent for them. It’s possible, unfortunately, that one of your plugins does this.

    Thanks,
    Jack
