• Hi
I’ve just took over a website developed with it’s own theme but it is rather basic. When you go to User Profile, there’s no option for Nickname or no dropdown for ‘Display name publicly as’.

The website needed moving from one hosting provider to another and now I have installed the latest WordPress with the theme on the new server.

Does anyone know how to get the two options back?

    Thanks

    Colin

  • To get the dropdown options you must to retape new nickname in the field Nickname (required). E.g. change nickname admin to something else and then click on dropdown. Did you try?
UPD If this fields don’t exist – it means some plugins or theme affecting WP. Disable it one by one and you will see the causer.

The Nickname field is not there nor is the dropdown box.

So, there is standart way of troubleshooting. Try to switch to default theme and disable plugins. The fields must appear after that. Then activate plugins one by one and watch the effect.

Ok I disabled the Askimet plugin and then checked the User Profile and the Nickname field was there so I’ve reactivated the plugin and went back and it is still there now.

    Thanks for your help.
