Support » Fixing WordPress » No media attachments found but media list shows 116 images

  • A customer’s blog is showing all the images just fine on their site, however, none show up in the media library. It shows (116) images, but say no media attachments found.

I would really like to know where in the database I can find the images so I can check if they are pointing to the right file, or to try and troubleshoot from there. The database is a little hard to read in phpMyAdmin as WP plugins and such have many, many records.

Maybe I am looking in the wrong spot, but all I can think of is to try fixing the database, I just need a hint on where to look. Any ideas?

The blog is located at blog.activehealthcareinc.com.

  • They should be in both posts and postmeta tables. I wouldn’t recommend editing anything in the db related to the attachments though unless you are sure of the problem.

    Hope that helps 🙂

The problem is that one of the designers went into the admin area and started deleting subscribers thinking that he was cleaning up the site, then he deleted 2 administrators. All of the posts and attachments related to those administrators were lost and I have been trying to re-do everything by restoring tables in the database one by one.

I can’t restore the entire database because this customer has had a couple different posts since my last backup, and it looks like they may have deleted my Better WP Security plugin that I had set to take backups every 3 days.

The media library is the last thing I have to get working again, but I can’t seem to do it. I tried installing that Hotfix plugin that other posts had mentioned, but that didn’t do anything. If you have any other suggestions, I would really like to hear them. I’m stumped.

images don’t actually exist in database though references to them do. Look on your server and see of they physically exist. Then, if they are still present on your server you could use esmi’s suggested plugin.

I did a re-installation of my WP, and had a similar dilemma. All the images were still on the server. And they showed up in the posts. But they were missing in the Media library. I solved the issue by using the above mentioned plug-in, with the option of keeping the file date instead of categorizing by import (current) date.
