• Hello. I have an issue with my wordpress installation. It outputs a white page for all visitors and a simple message saying “no matching template found” if you are logged in.

I have located the WP code that creates this issue, but I have no idea what might be causing it:
    https://wpseek.com/function/locate_block_template/

The theme installed in the website is totally custom-made, but we know that this is NOT the issue, because Live and Beta version are the same in the repo and Beta works, while Live outputs the white page.

The only difference I have found is that someone had once installed the twentytwenty theme on Beta, which is absent from live. Apart from that everything is identical in the code and the admin panel.

What could be causing this issue?

Thank you, in advance, for your time and help.

  • A few questions:

    • Can you provide more details?
    • If you revert to a different theme on the LIVE SITE (say twentytwentyone), does the problem go away?
    • How about checking for Plugin Conflicts
    • Can you post the environment variables for both sites?

    Yes, of course:
    A) the twentytwenty theme in beta was added via WP-panel, but it was in the gitignore file so that the repos never noticed the change, but there is no other theme in the live version to choose from. To be honest I have not tried yet to install a standard WP theme in live and test this, because I wanted to first understand what is causing this issue fundamentaly.

    B) Deactivated all of the plugins to test this. No change.

    C) That is a very good point that I had forgotten about. Maybe there is some env. variable between between beta and live that has been altered/corrupted.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply 🙂
I hope this extra information helped and if there is any suggestion about when and why WP outputs such a message, I’d be very grateful.

    Hey @sejuanisupport sejuanisupport
Did you get a resolution to this?
I’m having the same problem, but I can’t even change themes because none of the WP menu items work (i.e. they all produce the ‘no template found’ message).

@julianmcnally Unfortunately no. It is probably a configuration error, but I can’t find it :/

You could change the theme via FTP access or through your repo. Just remove (cut and paste out) the one that is not working and try installing a standard WP theme and see if it works this way. Hope this helps.

Thanks buddy @sejuanisupport. I’ve since found out the files in my home folder have been infected, so I’m going to have to clean that up to even see what is happening. But your suggestion is a good place to start.
