  • I don’t see why that makes it deserve a 1-star review.

Does the plugin still work? Do the features it boasts work?

No developer is ever obligated to continue developing a plugin, especially those given away for free.

    Agreed!

(I don’t care if a plugin is not as free as free beer …)

According to the description, the plugin is compatible up to 3.5.2. No WordPress administrator should use a plugin that is not compatible with the current stable WordPress version.

The URL mentioned on the main description page, https://uproot.us/projects/stripe-donations/, seems to be offline too.

The version number it says it is compatible up to is simply the version number it was confirmed to work with. It does not mean it doesn’t work.

A large number of plugins still work all the way back to pre-3.0 even though they say v3.7 (or similar) is the required minimum.

Giving a plugin a 1-star review because it’s no longer maintained would be like saying the Apple iMac is a terrible computer because it is now out dated.

It may make it irrelevant and unusable, but it does not make it a bad plugin.

@chmars – your review is pretty harsh. Have you tried using the plugin?

Just because it’s old doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s broken. And by rating it 1-star, you’re certainly not encouraging continued development.

Is that what you were hoping for?

Does anyone know how to set the short code to an open-ended amount so the user can place it the amount they want to pay?

I tested the WP version 3.92 and it works fine. Would just like to see an open ended amount.
