No longer can I use Edit Media to save thumbnail crop | WordPress.org

When editing images using “Edit Media” in previous versions of WP there was a Thumbnail Settings. So the edits (crop/resize) could be saved just to the Thumbnail. This appears not to exist anymore.

Am I missing something or did they just remove this feature?

I would also like to know if this feature will be returning or if there’s a suitable alternative? I use this for every gallery post and was a bit thrown just now not having this option.

I’m looking for a solution to this issue as well. I’m surprised they removed this feature.

While looking for an answer to this same question I found another thread here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/6-3-can-no-longer-crop-thumbnail-only/ that mentions that this functionality is now available in a plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-image-thumbnails-separately/

I also found the filter image_edit_thumbnails_separately that we can use in our own plugin or theme: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/image_edit_thumbnails_separately/
