    Since updating to the most recent release of WordPress and the most recent release of Jetpack, I cannot regain my connection to LinkedIn in the Publicize plug-in. I initially tried to simply reconnect using the provided button within the Publicize plug-in…several times. I then cleared all of my browser’s (Chrome) cookies, completely removed the LinkedIn connection and tried re-establishing it from scratch. No luck. Here is the error message from LinkedIn:

    The partner did not properly implement the authentication protocol.

    I also tried deactivating and reactivating Jetpack, and this did not help my problem, either.
    I have also verified that I have supplied the correct LinkedIn user/pass combination by logging into LinkedIn. I can successfully do this. Something is wrong. Please advise how I should continue.

    Thank you both for the report. I can’t seem to reproduce the problem on my end, though.

    Could you let me know if:

    1. You used that LinkedIn profile with a Jetpack site in the past;
    2. You use LinkedIn’s basic profiles, or one of the Business upgrades?

    Thanks!

    I’m experiencing the same behavior with the LinkedIn connection when I try to publicize.

    I’ve used the plugin to publicize to LinkedIn many times previously, though I did just update to WP 3.8.

    I even deleted the connection and tried to create it anew, but no luck.

    @wukovits: If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

    I am having the same issue at http://www.gogglepix.com after latest upgrade. I have had to update the connection in the past (and it has worked) but this time no go.

    @metom2 – as posted twice in this thread, please start your own thread.

    I am using a basic version of LinkedIn. I have been using Jetpack for about 6 months. I have had to reconnect Facebook in the past, but have successfully done that…in the past. I use the LinkedIn profile in Publicize to forward my blog posts to my Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. Some posts I choose not to forward to LinkedIn, so I will uncheck the LinkedIn option at times. This has worked fine until I recently upgraded to the new WordPress and the new Jetpack…on the same day. The next time a posted on my blog I wanted the post to go to both LinkedIn and Facebook, so I left both options checked on the post. Later…after not seeing the post forwarded, I went back into the post and saw a note on the page asking me to reconnect LinkedIn. I have not been able to successfully do that. The Facebook link says it is connected, but it has not forwarded the post, either. So it seems to be broken, also.

    Does this help?

    It does help, thank you. Although I can’t reproduce the problem yet, I’ll keep investigating and I’ll let you know as soon as I have some news.

    Any news about this problem?? This is hurting my ability to proliferate my blog entries effectively to Facebook and LinkedIn. I activated Jetpack on my account because of the Publicize plug-in, but it is pretty worthless if this isn’t going to be fixed. Please give me an update.

    I’m afraid I have no news about the LinkedIn issue yet. We’re still looking into it, and I’ll post again here as soon as we make some progress.

    I might have found what’s causing your issue with Facebook though; looking at your site’s source code, I see 2 sets of Open Graph Meta tags. These tags are used by Facebook to build a post preview when you share a post on FB, and FB recently started rejecting Publicized posts that included 2 sets of tags.

    One of these sets of tags is added by Jetpack, and you can deactivate it by adding the following line to your theme’s functions.php file:

    add_filter( 'jetpack_enable_open_graph', '__return_false' );

    (alternatively, you could install this small plugin if you don’t want to edit your theme files.)

    The other set of tags is added by another plugin or by your theme.

    Could you try to deactivate one of the sets of tags, until the errors disappear in Facebook’s Debugger:

    Once you’ve done so, Publicize should start working again for Facebook.

    I hope this helps.

    The LinkedIn issue is now fixed. You should now be able to connect Publicize to your LinkedIn account without any issues.

    Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Apparently not. I am experiencing the same problem.
