no log information when no connection to database

hi
we copied the magento database to the woocommerce test server
connection to dbase failed but the log is empty
why is that?
is the prefix ] ?
the sql database is in a folder http://rapallo.digitalmachine.co.nz/dbbkp241018.sql
keen to test the free version and then buy the pro version
