We are currently getting no notification to a user if the card they input is invalid, the page does nothing at all if the card is invalid.

    Hi @hbzach

I have seen this reported before and there’s a good chance it’s due to a theme/plugin conflict.

So the first step would be to rule out any conflicts. If you would prefer not to do testing on your live site, first make a back up of your site, then create a staging site using this plugin WP Staging. This creates a copy of your live site where you can make tests without affecting your live site.

Then, could you please temporarily switch your theme to one of our default – Storefront or Twenty Seventeen, then deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and eWAY? If it then works correctly, then it’s a theme or plugin conflict. Reactivating each plugin one at a time, then seeing if the issue pops up again will tell you which plugin is conflicting.

Let us know how that goes, and if necessary we can investigate further.

    Thanks

    Hi @hbzach

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Thanks,

From testing it appears no plugins are conflicting with the theme. (Unless it is woocommerce or eway)

I found that the only theme that gave a notice was Twenty Twenty which highlighted the card number box in red.

    Thanks,

    Hi @hbzach,

    >I found that the only theme that gave a notice was Twenty Twenty which highlighted the card number box in red.

Thanks for confirming this works on Twenty Twenty. Could you confirm if you get a payment failed error after the customer tries to complete the purchase with an invalid card? Usually, the card-related error will show up when the customer tries to submit the checkout form. If that doesn’t work, it’s most likely there is a compatibility with the theme. Could you check on those lines?

Am I looking for the error inside the eWay business centre? If so, there is nothing for it. As far as we can see if the card is not a valid card we get no notification of it at all.

If there is a log elsewhere for the eWay payment I will require guidance.

This would be in your eWay dashboard, yes. If you don’t see notices about failed transactions there, you could try enabling logging for the eWay plugin by going to your eWay settings and enabling “Debug Mode.” Then retest the issue.

You can then find the eWay logs by going to WooCommerce > Status > Logs, opening the dropdown, and looking for the eWay log with the most recent date. If you open that log, you should find an error about the failed card validation.

It does not appear to have any errors for the transaction, it is only responding with 200 codes and in the array of order info “Errors”:null.

    Hello @hbzach,

It appears to be a missing feature on our plugin at this moment. We have already reported this to our developers and they are currently working on it.

I recommend keeping an eye on the changelog so that you get to know once it is fixed.

    Cheeers.
