Maxime Jobin:
I read your responses to the other negative reviews and can sympathize with you. It seems like you spent a good amount of time working on this plugin — which you were told would only take ‘1 hour’ to create — and decided to give back to the community, only to receive a lot of negative backlash.
While I completely sympathize and understand where you’re coming from, one thing I do hope you understand (from my frustrations) is that you published this plugin to a community of mostly WordPress users and non-developers.
If you published this code to a community of developers, this might be a different story :).
But, for somebody like me — suddenly in charge of a website I need to build for an organization (with a focus on accessibility), and with no developer background, I have used many different plugins that have explained how to implement their plugins easily.
My boss told me that plugins are easy. Many are easy. He told me to use yours. But for this plugin, with no clear instructions for non-developers/coders, it really is quite a struggle. I spent 5-7 hours trying to figure this out — using YouTube, Udemy,a and LinkedIn learning courses to try to understand CSS, html, PHP, and I still can’t get it to work.
Sure, you might think I’m an idiot haha :D. But I have no background in code, and other plugins have been able to work easily for me. This one — which is a very important one for our organization — made no sense.
All of that said, I am very sure that your plugin works very well for those who understand development and code.
But I hope you understand that for the rest of us, it is very frustrating to try to implement your plugin.
I know in one of your comments you said maybe it was better you didn’t publish it. I am not trying to sound mean, but I think it is correct — it is better you did not publish it for those who do not understand code. Because, while we have expertise in many other things, we do not have any expertise in code, and trying to implement this plugin without that background costs us a lot of time and pain.
That said, I’m sure you’re incredibly smart and a great developer! I just hope you understand why our review might be reflecting our pain 🙂
Your initial review was pretty sad to read. No instructions?
Did you read the FAQ?
Did you watch the video?

Not all plugins are created equal. You basically give this plugin a 1-star review because you are developing a website and… you are not a developer. Some plugins are easy to use for everybody… some are not.
You are blaming this plugin for your lack of competence in doing something you do not know how to do. I don’t say this in a mean way.
For instance, would you give Elementor a bad review for not being simple to use? It’s pure drag and drop. No coding skills required. Not that easy, huh?! Developing a website is not an easy task.
Back to our plugin.
Maybe the documentation is not clear enough… to you. There is a forum here where you can ask a question. Why didn’t you do that?
Show me something so I can help. That is why there is a support forum here.
In all honesty, your review is unfair.
The documentation and the video were added AFTER seeing the previous reviews. I also added a note in the plugin saying to go to the support forum if you needed help.

Maybe it is not clear enough. I thought it was clear when I created it.
I don’t think you are an idiot.
But I do wonder why you did not create a support ticket that would’ve taken half the time you took to write all this. That way, I could help, make the plugin better, understand your pain, fix it for you… and maybe get a better review.
Gotta go. My kid is asking for my attention. Yes, Daddy’s home. 😉
